LOCATION | PIER 8 & 9, WALSH BAY
Murdoch Magazines.
Wharves 8&9 Walsh Bay are part of the historic precinct of wharves which were adapted for reuse as commercial offices. The wharf which is 150m long x 40m wide supports a 12 metre high timber building.
The project involved the adaptive re-use of pier 8/9 into an 'A' grade commercial office, in accordance with the Burra Charter. The Central Wharf Stevedoring Co. previously operated the pier, in association with Gilchrist Watt and Co., from 1914 to 1968.
The project was complex in meeting the conditions of the Heritage controls and our teams wish to honour the historical value of the building and its true appearance.
It’s quite gratifying in attending meetings in this completed project with our friends from Hassell Architects.
